Orchestra Revolution/American Orchestras Summit

Thanks to Michael Mauskapf (one of the delegates who is speaking at our conference), for pointing me in the direction of a couple of important events in America.

First, a meeting in Atlanta, that takes place very soon: Orchestra Revolution.

Takes some time to look at the website, play the video on the homepage and send in questions for the panel to discuss on 16 June.

I'll be sure to keep an eye on this event as we approach the round-table discussion in London, 'The future of the symphony orchestra in the twenty-first century'.

Second, a conference that Michael organised with colleague Mark Clague at the University of Michigan.

If you wish me to write a post about your research on the symphony orchestra then please contact me via the IMR with some information about what you have been up to, and the events that you have been involved in.

  1. The Atlanta conference has now taken place. Ben Cameron's talk around 50 minutes in is well worth watching.

  2. Neil and Roddy,

I am from Syracuse, New York, and our Symphony Orchestra was just let go - after 50 years of service and beautiful music. Please attend our Virtual Support Rally on Facebook at

and spread the word, if you can. We've received a great amount of public support this far from all over the country and the world - we need all the help we can get to save the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
    Thank you!
